Eighteen and counting

I'm up to eighteen miles as of today and it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Since I cut back to one twelve ounce soda a day, from three or four, my stomach has not been an issue, which is awesome. I'm still finding that breaking it up with a bathroom break or stopping to get water really helps me. I'm taking it slow though, keeping just about a ten minute pace, but I figure you subtract the heat and add some race day magic and I could meet my goal in New York. I'm so excited, but no quite ready in my running! 'till next time-LJ

Just like JT

-I'm bringing it back! Out of request I'm bringing back the running blog and I'd love to see y'all's posts on here, Melin and Steph...
-Last night run group was fun. I ran with my buddy Lance's wife. She's only been into running for about 10months now and you can tell she's just not quite comfortable yet, but she's determined to get there. Part of me wished I was up ahead with Sarah, mainly because I wanted to be done, but I know that run group is about them, not me. Anyway, there is nothing profound or inspirational for me to say,but I am going to try and get in six today and do a P90X. Tomorrow we are working the waterstop at the Ovarian Cancer 5k, hopefully I'll be motivated for my long run on sunday (18...eke!) I will not fear the distance, just gonna take it six at a time and know that I only have a couple of long runs left before my taper, and then NYC!
-and I just got an email from one of our friends out in California. When we were there in march I was talking to his wife, Reyna, and she said that she was starting to run but it was so hard, etc....I advised her to sign up for a 5k, to give her a goal to work toward. She's training with Team in Training for the Nike women's half marathon (one of my todo before I die, runs). I'm so excited for her!!!!

Just work

Today I had a great treadmill run. I didn't want to do it when I started, but I didn't have time to go to Lady Bird Lake and I needed to get in six. I decided that it was just going to be work, not enjoyment before I started and I'd have to trudge through it. It went a lot easier than I expected. Sometimes you expect the worse and get the best. I hope that tomorrow doesn't go bad because I promised myself a fun run on the lake. Peace Out, LJ

Once a Runner

I know that no one but me is looking at this...thanks again running friends...did I mention you suck? Anyways, I'm reading Once a Runner, once again and I love it. I've been doing really good these last couple of weeks even though its been hot and muggy. Me and town lake are almost synonymous. I have started getting these weird blisters on my arm and knee that only come up when I run and after I wash them with soap and water they go away, weird stuff. Oh, and I've been so hungry, which I've been trying to fight, mostly because we never have food in the house, but I have found myself grabbing a handful of chex when I pass the pantry. I really don't know how it adds up calorie wise, but I'm sure it does add up about the fourth time I do it. The convenience store is also getting rich off me. I spent seven dollars on drinks yesterday (I know the plastic bottles are bad for the environment, but I do recycle), and it seems like there is not a day that goes by that I'm not on a roof for something with bidding season being upon us. I'm sure in a week or two I'll be run down, but my body is holding up to the heat for now. So I won't quote anything from once a runner, but I will say that it does provide a poetic justice to all the glory and agony of going the distance. Once a Runner, always a runner, right? LJ

Great Friday!

I'm on a new schedule where I run six days a week and its taking some adjusting to but I think I'll be able to stick with it. Lori just texted me that she signed up for the race and that she's got a 2:05 goal this time and it made me want to set my mark. I'm striving for a 4:18...just under a ten minute pace. I know that I can do it if I can just get out of my head about the last six miles. That ten k has been my nemisis in both marathons. I'll have to train better for this one so I don't let Lance down by letting him see me walk. Oh and the thought of the Juniors cheesecake is already getting my mouth watering, and so is set my post race reward. Now that we have hotel arrangements down we just need to figure out the flight schedule so we all get into the same airport and then decide if we want matching shirts or not...y'all's call on that one.
Happy Easter (Resurection Day if you choose)!
Love,
Lindsey

Barbed Wire Hurts

Friday I did something sssstupi...silly. I was running four on the greenbelt and when I got done I really had to pee. It was a beautiful day and there were a ton of people hiking around the trail and enjoying the falls, so I jumped off the trail in search of secluded area. I had to go so bad that I was sprinting through the woods and did not realize that there was a barbed wire fence blocking off an area of trail. Yes, I ran full speed into it. One of the barbs stuck in my shin and I was bent over it, pretty much in a downward dog position holding myself up so I didnt get any more stuck in the fence. It took what seemed like 30 minutes but was probably more like 2 to walk myself backward with my hands and pull myself up into a standing position and then pull the wire out of my leg. I kept praying really hard the whole time that God would help me get free from the mess I had got myself into. I also kept telling myself that people and animals chew off their own limbs to get free so I could definitely get out of this. I wore a long dress to the wedding I attended this weekend, needless to say and Sunday afternoon I was back up and running. Lesson to be learned: don't get ahead of yourself, take a break when you need to instead of pushing yourself to the finish only to get hurt, watch where you are going and take the time to enjoy all the things around you. If you aren't able to see a fence infront of you, you are missing the beautiful things that God has to show you. That's it. Keep pushin' LJ

Well, sorry Margaret, that you didn't get to come up with your own nickname---just like I DIDN'T name myself "Wonderwoman - Destination Runner".

I am looking forward to running with you all again! It does fit my criteria of a good destination (even though I didn't think of it myself)

running doesn't suck, you suck

There...I said it. I didn't set this page up so I could talk to myself, I can go for a run if I wanted to do that. This is so we can all keep up with each other. Like I heard someone is doing P90X, maybe they could blog about it, or if you've signed up for the race you could let us all know...that kind of thing. So I've officially named Margaret Mojo. We can change it if you don't like it, but I thought it was cute for you. Also, does anyone want to get tech shirts made for this run at $35 each, with your nickname on the back? We can do a texas something with the renegade logo on the front. We just need to decide by mid summer. Oh, AND BLOG ALREADY!!!
My runs this week have been subpar because I'm so upset with y'all...not really. I ran three with strides on Monday which was officially my day off but I took tuesday off, and it actually ended up being 4 miles when it was all said and done. I ran 60minutes (just over 6.5miles) with hills today. I'm going to run 6 miles tomorrow and 4 and 10 this weekend. I'll do 5 days of P90X with 3days of P90abs this week also. What's your workout?

Welcome to my world

Alright, today is day one of the running season for us. We're officially in training!!!! Woo hoo! I ran 60 minutes on the treadmill this morning with some minute and a half hills in there (7.5-8 incline) and it felt good. Tonight I'm doing the Crown and Anchor Run as an early birthday celebration, where we start at Town Lake and run to the Crown and Anchor for dinner, about a 5k in distance, and I'm really looking forward to running with my grandpa (Gene) since he was my running mentor when I started. Y'all will learn this about me, but I like running and I like run on sentences too. So basically anyone is welcomed to post about your training or comment on other people's blogs, it's a place to encourage others and find encouragement when you need it...or just a place to b**** if that's what you're lookin' for, Lance.
Oh, and in our running crew I'm Learjet so I'll usually sign my posts LJ. Robin goes by WonderWoman...she's so into herself, I know. You can come up with your own nickname or I can dub you if you'd like...I pretty much named everyone else. I don't know but I expect that those training for SA might be on here too...you'll get to know them, LearNinja, LearAttack, Jersey, A-train, Rerun, Smash,Speedy and The Hare.
I'll put a link to the marathon site on the side of the page and I'll need everyone's email addresses so I can add them as eligible bloggers.....Go to your happy pace, LJ
